Artist Led Workshops

Kate Fahey, Adam Gibney and Jonathan Mayhew will lead practical and discursive artist-led workshops as an extension to their exhibited works in ‘em-bracing’ at The LAB. With an introduction by curator Séamus McCormack.  The workshops are in partnership with The School of Creative Arts, TU Dublin

Kate Fahey: Thinking Things, 11.00-12.30am

Kate will present an object / text / image from her studio which has been key in the development of a recent work, followed by an open discussion around research, ideas and how we think about the ‘agents’ or ‘containers for thoughts’ Participants are asked to bring an object / image / short text that they would like to work with as a starting point for the workshop.

Jonathan Mayhew: Meme me up, 2.00-3.30

A brief look at memes and how they can and are used, considering Metahaven’s book ‘Can jokes bring down governments?’, Participants need to have their own phone or web accessible device

Adam Gibney: Techno-diverse approaches for losing one’s head, 3.30-5.00

Discussing and using AI text generation, repurposed meditation techniques, chat-bots and DIY instruments, participants will try a catch their own ghost in their machine.

Panel Discussion

The curator, Séamus McCormack and artists Kate Fahey, Adam Gibney and Jonathan Mayhew will participate in an online panel discussion to expand on their research and the works included in ’em-bracing’.
